Registering The Death

This must be done as a matter of urgency- usually within 5 days of the death.

Who Can Register The Death?Registration

  1. A close relative of the deceased
  2. A person present at the death
  3. The person arranging the funeral

Documents Required

  1. Medical certificate of death
  2. Medical card if available
  3. Birth and marriage certificate

Information Requested By The Registrar

  1. Date and place of death
  2. Full name of deceased (maiden name if applicable)
  3. Date of birth
  4. Occupation and home address
  5. If married, full name and occupation of surviving spouse

Certificates Given By The Registrar

Green certificate to be given to the funeral director.

Social Security certificate to got to the D.S.S with pension book.

Copies of entry of death for: Banks, Insurance, Solicitors, Pensions and Investments
