Hi I’m Anne, with an “E” like the princess!
I am a Carlisle girl through and through and proud to be, having been brought up in Harraby and then moving across the river, where I live with my toy boy husband Dan and our two fur babies, Starr and Skye who are gorgeous black cats.
When I left school I entered a journey into retail, working at B&Q for 13 years when it was on The Bog Road. Here I had many roles over the years which gave me a passion for customer service which I have carried with me ever since. Whilst there I got involved with training and implementing new systems which took me all around the country. At this time an opportunity to join the merchandising team at Stoyden arose which meant I was out and about all over the north predominantly still working within the DIY arena. 13 years later the company got into difficulties and closed at which point I was head hunted by another merchandising company GEM Merchandising. I was quickly promoted to National Merchandising Manager. We had an amazing team and working alongside them was extremely rewarding. It was also sadly while with them that things in retail took a nose dive due to Covid. So, after 8 years with them I decided it was time to re-evaluate what I wanted to move on to. Joining the funeral business was not something I had explored but on seeing a vacancy to arrange funerals, I was drawn to it. I naturally progressed to being a funeral director which I can honestly say is an honour and a privilege. Having worked for Dignity for both Walkers and Michael Walsh in Carlisle I was extremely humbled to be joining this local family ran independent funeral directors where I can share the passion we have to deliver the highest quality of service and care to those families who trust us to look after them and their loved ones.
Being a funeral director is not a job, it is a vocation which I can honestly say I love x
